Beaufort Art Association hosts spring show, oil painting workshops
Beaufort Art Association's 53rd annual Spring Show will be from March 15 through March 22 in the second level of Old Bay Marketplace, 917 Bay Street, Beaufort.
Local artists will present their works in oils, acrylics, watercolor, photography, mixed media, pottery, woodturning, metal sculpture and more. The art will be for sale. Admission is free. Artist Alan Campbell, who has earned recognition for his figurative watercolors and oil paintings of landscapes, wildlife, and people from around the world, will judge the 200 entries.
Campbell has had more than 50 exhibitions in museums and galleries in the U.S., Chile and New Zealand. He has traveled as an expedition artist to Antarctica, Costa Rica and Peru to help raise awareness of environmental issues. His work has been featured in the New York Times, Christian Science Monitor, New Zealand Herald and Explorers Journal.
In conjunction with the show, Campbell will hold a en plein aire oil painting workshop on March 22-23. The workshop is open to artists at all levels. The workshop will focus on painting Beaufort's views of marshes, live oaks and the Beaufort River and the historic homes in the Point. Each day includes an hour-long demonstration, one-on-one instruction and critique.
